FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

Muenster, Germany (September 14, 2022) – Coffee & Crime Publisher today announced that Stephanie Ahlen’s debut novel “Windward Side” has now been published in English. Ahlen’s crime novel, originally written and published in German language, tells the story of a murder hunt on the island of Oahu, Hawaii.

About “Windward Side”:
An English police officer is found murdered in a luxury hotel in Hawaii. The Honolulu Police Department is investigating the crime, and the London police have sent one of their own officers to assist them. Detective Lauren Bradley began her career as a police officer in Honolulu many years before but left the force suddenly due to an unpleasant incident. Against her will, she is ordered to return to the Pacific Island, where she must confront her past and her hostile Hawaiian colleagues. These include her former lover Kalei, who is now in charge of the investigation. The hunt for a murderer in paradise begins.

Stephanie Ahlen lived in Hawaii for many years and is intimately familiar with the Islands. It was while living there that she was inspired to write a mystery novel set in those exotic surroundings on the other side of the world. In the ensuing years, she painstakingly pieced together many handwritten fragments to create the first Honolulu murder mystery centered around Kalei, the Hawaii police officer, and Lauren, his former partner. This carefully crafted novel is filled with fascinating information about the people, culture, and nature of these Polynesian islands that so many visit but so few know very much about.

For the English version, the author teamed up with Hawaiian writer and resident Nicholas Voge, a professional translator of both Japanese and German, and a retired airline pilot. Voge has given the story a special authentic touch through his interpretation of the local language and his familiarity with the island and its inhabitants, which complement the author's own experiences wonderfully.

Stephanie lives and works in both Germany and on a sailboat in the Mediterranean, where she is currently researching her second crime novel, which will take place in the sailing scene of the Greek Aegean. It goes without saying that the author will also incorporate her personal impressions and experiences, which she has collected in six years of life on the boat, into her new story.

“Windward Side” is available on Amazon for Kindle and as a paperback.
