New Book Release by Lara Kajs, Founding Director, The Genocide Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. - 18 April 2022 - Yemen is a magical place. Its beauty is the land, the diversity of culture, its heritage, and the people. But that beauty has been marred by nearly a decade of conflict; a conflict that has led to the worst humanitarian crisis in recorded history.
Stories from Yemen: A Diary from the Field shares the stories of nearly a hundred Yemeni men, women, and children, and how they have been impacted by the conflict – through displacement, being unhoused, food insecurity, sickness, economic collapse, and concern for the safety and wellbeing of their children, and death. All of this while trying to avoid conflict, airstrikes, bullets, landmines, and traffickers. The author shares her own story of survival when coalition airstrikes forced her team into a building that collapsed on them, trapping them for three days.
Lara Kajs is the Founding Director of The Genocide Report, a 501c3 humanitarian monitoring, and education nonprofit in Washington, D.C. Kajs is an expert on atrocity crimes, conflict, displacement, and diplomacy, and consults with the UN and the ICC.
