Monitor your indoor environment with TEKTELIC LoRaWAN Smart Room CO2 Sensor that controls the room Carbon Dioxide (CO2) level, Temperature, Humidity, Light and other parameters, and reports them to LoRaWAN Cloud Application and battery powered E-ink Display. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT
October 14, 2021 – Calgary, Canada. TEKTELIC Communications, a leading manufacturer of Carrier Grade LoRaWAN Gateways, Devices, Sensors and end-to-end IoT Solutions, announces the availability of a low cost LoRaWAN Carbon Dioxide (CO2) IoT Smart Room Sensor for accurate measurement, monitoring and reporting of CO2 levels to maintain healthy and comfortable indoor environment.
The Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is the main indicator of any room air quality and sufficient ventilation inside a building. The WHO and other health organizations recommend the of CO2 level should not exceed 1000 ppm to 1200 ppm. This level is considered optimal and safe for learning and working in indoor facilities. However, depending on the building's HVAC equipment, ventilation, fresh air intake, number of people inside a particular room and its volume the CO2 levels often exceed 2000 to 25000 ppm. At these levels, people have a hard time functioning well and kids have a very hard time learning new material, staying alert, or engaged. One study indicated the kids’ cognitive skills reduced by more than 50% when the CO2 level in the classroom reached 1800 ppm.
Today many public places such as kindergartens, schools, universities, restaurants, gyms, and others deploy Carbon Dioxide sensors to monitor the CO2 level inside of them. These sensors indicate the risk level of COVID, and other airborne virus distribution and contraction as higher CO2 levels indicate more air is recirculated versus exchange for fresh air. As an example, the CO2 level of 800 ppm indicates ~1% of air is recalculated, and 1800 ppm indicates ~10% of air is recirculated.
TEKTELIC’s LoRaWAN Smart Room CO2 Sensor incorporates the latest laser technology to ensure it accuracy, no manual calibration over its lifespan and runs for over 6 years on two AA batteries while measuring and reporting CO2 level every 5 minutes. The device measures and reports not only the room CO2 level but its Temperature, Humidity, Light and other conditions. The Smart Room CO2 Sensor wirelessly transmits all measured data to a stand-alone E-Ink Display and a LoRaWAN IoT cloud Application for further analysis, alarm generation, HVAC and ventilation system optimization. This allows people to quickly adjust the environment inside the room (say open a door or a window when the CO2 level exceeds 1200 ppm) and informs the facility management and owners the building HVAC system should be modified or adjusted to increase fresh intake, airflow or circulation.

Roman Nemish, TEKTELIC President, stated “TEKTELIC Smart Room CO2 Sensor is a low cost and very simple to install IoT device, but it provides a wealth of valuable information for the people in the room and data for the facility management and property owners. It ensures everyone will take the appropriate actions from opening a door or a window right when it is needed to informing the facility managers and property owners that they need adjust or fix the HVAC, ventilation system, or other issues in a specific room, not over the entire budling or facility. It helps to address the problem most cost effective and efficient way right where it is discovered.”
