Austin, TX (September 23, 2021) – Zpryme, an Austin-based energy and technology research company, partnering with CPS Energy, today announced SA Drive Electric, an event for the San Antonio community to get acquainted with electric vehicles (EVs) and EV charging stations, taking place on Saturday, October 2, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pearl, 307 Pearl Pkwy, San Antonio, TX 78215.
SA Drive Electric will allow drivers to get acquainted with the power and quiet ride of EVs as they take a test drive in one on a predetermined route. A full display of EVs will be available along with exhibits describing how EVs and charging work and experts who will discuss at home and public charging technologies.
“We invite anyone who has wondered if an EV is right for them or been curious about these vehicles to come out and enjoy a test drive. We want drivers to get a true experience of an electric vehicle so it won’t be confined to the parking lot. They’ll get to test it out on a 5.6-mile round trip,” explained Drew Higgins, Senior Director of Products & Services for CPS Energy. “Additionally, our FlexEV customer incentive program can make it even more beneficial for drivers to go electric.”
SA Drive Electric is being held during and in association with National Drive Electric Week. Other key partners involved with the event include the City of San Antonio, Alamo Area Council of Governments, Blink Charging, BCycle, Pearl, and the National Resources Defense Council.
With an event goal of educating 1,000+ people on EVs and charging, the event also aims at performing 200 EV test drives. Attendees will be able to sign up and fill out appropriate forms to test drive a vehicle via the event website before the event. Forms and sign-up sheets also will be available at the event for additional test drives. Event organizers are closely monitoring the weather as well as the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically the Delta variant, and are working in partnership with the City of San Antonio to ensure public safety. Social distancing and masks are highly encouraged during the duration of the event. Further guidance and safety protocols can be found here.
“With $7.5 billion just approved for EV infrastructure development nationwide, and another several billion for renewable generation onto the electric grid, range anxiety by potential customers surrounding EVs will continue to evaporate, spurring more people to go out, test drive, and purchase these fantastic new clean yet powerful modes of transportation,” explained Zpryme CEO Jason Rodriguez.
