Next Tuesday, September 15th ExpressArte and ¡Cómo No! are hosting an online Mexican fiesta for all the Mexican community and friends of Mexico based in the UK and around the world as we prepare to shout ¡Viva México!. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT
Join the Mexican community in the UK next Tuesday 15th of September as we celebrate one of the most important dates in the Mexican calendar: Mexican Independence Day, with a huge digital party open to all friends of Mexico and to the Mexican community here in London and those further afield.
This is the first time the annual event will be hosted digitally and will take place at 7pm (UK time), 8pm (Continental Europe time) or 1pm (Mexico City time), through ExpressArte London’s Youtube link: https://bit.ly/3blToq6 and will be completely free to access for everybody.
During the event, Ambassador Aureny Aguirre O. Sunza, Chargé d'Affaires at the Mexican Embassy will lead the traditional civic ceremony and the iconic “Grito de la Independencia”.
The event will host some notorious names in Mexican music, such as the renowned Mexican singer, composer and pianist Flor Amargo; some talented excellent local artists from the UK including: Mariachi el Mexicano, Colibrí Mexican Folkdance UK, Mexican Dance in Belfast and Mestizo Folklore Group; and it wouldn't be a true Mexican celebration without el Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, who will be accompanied by the magical voice of Rosy Arango.
We will also be joined by Mexican tenor Luis Chapa as he performs with guitarist Morgan Szymanski, pianist Eduardo Andrade and Gerardo Mendaz on the violin, as they all take us on an emotional journey through Mexico. Treating us to songs such as La Bamba, Cielito Lindo, Música de Veracruz y Oaxaca; as well as the Mexican national anthem.
The official celebration of the “Grito de la Independencia” is an occasion very close to every Mexican’s heart, and for over a decade ExpressArte - a London-based organisation dedicated to promoting Mexican culture and art - has organised this one of a kind event.
For the second consecutive year, the event will be held in collaboration with ¡Cómo No!, a well established, British live events company founded by Andy Wood, that has been producing live Latin American events in the UK since 1986.
The event aims to reach all of the Mexican community in the UK and around the world as well as those with a keen interest in all things Mexican. The event’s content will continue to be available after the initial broadcast.
The event’s organisers want to thanks the following for their continued support: The UK Mexican Embassy, Mestizo Mexican Restaurant & Tequila Bar, The Mexican Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain, Dorsal and Interactive Coolture; as well as the sponsors of the event: Tequila Patrón, La Chingada Restaurant, Los Cabos Tourism Board, business and tourism consultancy 100perCeb Ltd., as well as London based marketing and communications agency Métonymie_.
