Culture First: Two Engineering Firms Join Forces to Create One Winning Team

PSMJ advises on Russell Planning & Engineering, Inc.’s merger with Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

August 21, 2019 (Newton, Mass.) – Engineering firms Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. (SEH) and Russell Planning & Engineering, Inc (RPE) merged and will operate as Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. SEH is headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota, with 31 offices across nine states. Based in Durango, Colorado, RPE provides civil engineer, highway design, and planning and land development services to public and private clients.

PSMJ Resources’ A/E/C Mergers & Acquisitions group initiated this transaction and provided advisory services for RPE in connection with the transaction.

With the addition of the RPE Durango office, SEH deepens its bench of specialized engineers, architects, planners and scientists and expands its menu of available client services. SEH CEO/President David Ott and RPE CEO/President Mike Russell share in their excitement to merge companies. “Early in the due diligence process, we recognized the value both companies could offer to employees and clients,” said Ott. “Mike Russell and his company are well-known, well-respected and award-winning. We look forward to leveraging the talents of both companies for the benefit of our clients and our employees.”

According the A/E/C M&A experts at PSMJ, this merger is just one example of how win-win transactions are coming together in today’s hot market. “When the right strategic and cultural fit is there, the other elements of a merger can come together quite smoothly,” commented PSMJ Senior Consultant Arnon Garonzik who led PSMJ’s efforts on this engagement. “This is why the early-stage introductory and discovery process is so important. SEH and RPE were the right fit for each other’s objectives, and I’m sure this is the start of great things to come for their combined team.”
