New version of Virtual Reality Viewer offers even more scope for creativity

M4 VIRTUAL REVIEW: The new version of the VR Viewer provides a more comprehensive VR experience

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

Cambridge, UK and Pittsford, NY – 5 June 2019: Work with even larger 3D models, powerful new tools, and greater flexibility in virtual reality (VR). The new version of the M4 VIRTUAL REVIEW VR viewer is now available.

Higher performance for a better VR experience
With the new version of the M4 VIRTUAL REVIEW virtual reality viewer , it is now possible to load and fluidly display even larger and more detailed 3D buildings and CAD models in VR. This is made possible by the addition of full support for 64 bit systems.

A tape measure for the virtual world
When reviewing a design in VR it is very useful to be able to make measurements. This is now possible in M4 VIRTUAL REVIEW with the new measurement tool. Using the tool, distances between points can be quickly and easily measured by snapping dimensions to the edges of the model or the XYZ axes. Dimensions can be displayed in metres or millimetres.

Add notes and take screenshots
The new version of M4 VIRTUAL REVIEW now includes a mark-up tool. With this tool, notes and sketches can be drawn directly in VR. When using VR glasses the virtual environment effectively becomes a huge sketchpad. The mark-up tool provides a completely new way to review and provide feedback on designs by annotating them with notes and sketches in VR. The user draws lines of varying thickness and colour using a marker pen in VR. The new screenshot tool in M4 VIRTUAL REVIEW enables the user to take easily pictures of the current VR scene using a virtual camera. The pictures are then saved to disk as image files and can be subsequently used for documentation or even sales and marketing purposes.

Move model parts even easier
The Move tool is one of the most important tools in M4 VIRTUAL REVIEW. It is used whenever you want to move, rotate or hide something in VR. In the new version, the Move tool has been enhanced. Models can now be moved either by hand or by a given distance. Similarly, a model can be rotated by a specified angle. The distances and angles can be freely adjusted. The structure of the model is also taken into account when moving it, so that you can choose to move only part of the model, or the entire model.

Support for Additional 3D formats
The new version of M4 VIRTUAL REVIEW enables textured models to be loaded directly into VR. This means that individual scenes and models can now be visualised even more realistically, further enhancing the immersive experience. In addition, models in OBJ format can now be loaded. This popular format is supported by many CAD systems. For models in STEP format, CAD Schroer offers a STEP to FBX converter. This includes the option of simplifying STEP models before automatically converting them to FBX format. The degree of simplification can also be specified for each model.
