Originally constructed in 1947, project undergoes renovations and an expansion FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT
McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. recently celebrated an important milestone at the Texas Woman’s University (TWU) Hubbard Hall project - the topping out of what will be the Student Union at Hubbard Hall. McCarthy began construction in early 2018 on the 100,754 square feet of renovations and 23,920 square feet of additions. Work on the building has been phased and portions have remained occupied during construction. The overall project is expected to be completed later this year.
To celebrate this milestone, more than 200 people gathered on Friday at Hubbard Hall. Attendees were treated to a catered lunch, topping out shirts and raffle prizes. Those in attendance included McCarthy’s craft workers and executives as well as TWU students and leadership.
“We are committed to delivering another signature project within the higher education market,” said Ray Sedey, McCarthy’s southern region president. “The successful collaboration between McCarthy, our partners and TWU has provided ultimate safety for both workers and Hubbard Hall visitors during a complex project, and we are proud to build efficient, quality structures that will enhance the TWU campus as it continues to grow.”
Hubbard Hall, once the university’s dining hall and now conference facility and reception hall, was originally constructed in 1947. The renovations include an interior finish-out, landscape, irrigation and site utilities surrounding the Redbud Theater. In the fall, McCarthy completed construction of the Oakland Complex, a parking garage and an adjoining office building that houses campus police headquarters, human resources administrative spaces, a testing center, a retail food service vendor and outdoor patio space.
