More than 200 local Comcast NBC Universal employees and their families partnered with Atlanta Hawks’ Kent Bazemore and his ARMS Foundation volunteers to improve BEN at Miles Elementary School as part of the 18th annual Comcast Cares Day on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Harry the Hawk and Hawks’ cheerleaders were on site to “make change happen.” The volunteers completed an indoor/outdoor beautification project at Miles Elementary School to enhance and improve the functionality and appeal of the learning environment.
Bazemore, who recently completed his seventh NBA season, founded the 501c3 non-profit ARMS Foundation to promote, motivate and inspire any young child who aspires to be part of the next generation of leaders.
Raised in Kelford, NC, a town of only 260 residents, he earned a scholarship to Old Dominion University. While in college, Bazemore won the Lefty Driesell Award, which is given annually to the nation's top defensive player. Undrafted out of college, Bazemore beat the odds to not only make the NBA, but to become a break-out starter for the Atlanta Hawks.
The ARMS Foundation provides disadvantaged youth a path to a quality education, athletic achievement and a healthy lifestyle. In 2017, the ARMS Foundation received The President’s Volunteer Service Award and The National 4-H Council Legacy Award. |
