Chacha: Charlyn "Chacha" M. Castro-Rojas was raised between Central Florida and her native home of Puerto Rico. As she grew up, she was always involved in modeling and beauty pageants. Her home was always filled with sewing machines, garment patterns, and textile spools. So it was no wonder, she knew from very early on, she would become a fashion designer.
In 2011, Charlyn began the production of Castro-Rojas fashion line and website. In the midst of finding the right partner, founder Charlyn teamed up with Mirian Corsino (veteran seamstress) by aligning their visions. Then, in 2012, both ladies successfully launched the Castro-Rojas brand and toured the US through numerous fashion shows.
In the aftermath hurricane Maria, Charlyn, joined by brother Jonathan Castro (an art director and graphic designer), along with long-time collaborator Mirian Corsino set out to reinvent the brand with a deeper understanding of fashion’s transformative power and a unified vision of the Caribbean’s role in today’s global culture. This new, bolder, and unapologetic mindset sets the Castro-Rojas brand as a tour de force both Nationwide and Internationally.
So stay on the lookout for the Castro-Rojas takeover and watch for what this "Boricua" designer and her self-named firebrand has up her sleeves next. |
