FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

ATLANTA, March 4, 2019. – MedShare, a global nonprofit humanitarian aid organization based in Atlanta, today announced it has received a grant from NCR Foundation, the charitable arm of the global technology company, NCR Corporation, to improve the quality of medical care available to communities in need.

NCR has pledged $150,000 to MedShare over three years. The grant will improve healthcare in medically underserved areas; specifically strengthening healthcare in the Philippines. The grant will be supporting maternal and child healthcare through the Clean Birthing Kit initiative, and providing lifesaving medical supplies and equipment to the communities MedShare serves in over 100 countries. NCR’s philanthropy enables MedShare to reach patients who would otherwise go without medical care and will strengthen health systems in the communities MedShare serves.

“This commitment really demonstrates NCR’s dedication to the health and wellbeing of underserved communities globally,” said Charles Redding, MedShare CEO and President. “We are proud to call NCR our partner and we look forward to the long-lasting and positive impact our partnership will have on health in underserved communities.”

“Collaborating with MedShare aligns with NCR Foundation’s mission to invest in health-related programs on a global level with local impact by providing opportunities for our employees to volunteer and learn more about MedShare’s important work,” said Yvonne Whitaker, NCR Foundation Lead.

MedShare’s mission is to improve the quality of life of people and our planet. The organization achieves this mission through four program areas: Maternal & Child Health, Primary Care, Infectious Disease Control & Prevention, and Disaster Relief. Each program is bolstered by the support of MedShare’s Biomedical Equipment Training & Repair Service, which provides state-of-the-art biomedical and diagnostic equipment, critical operational training, and equipment repairs in receiving communities.

MedShare’s ongoing initiatives include Clean Birthing Kits, The Safe Birth Initiative, Medical Mission Team support, US Free & Safety Net Clinic outreach, and long-term disaster relief and recovery. The NCR Foundation will directly support many of these initiatives over the three-year partnership.
