FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

(Panama City, FL) July 30, 2018 – The Emerald Coast Medical Association (ECMA) has officially endorsed Adam Putnam (R-Bartow) to be its choice for Governor in the upcoming Gubernatorial Primary. In endorsing Commissioner Putnam, the association is the first large medical organization in the state to endorse a candidate for governor. The ECMA has over 300 member physicians from Bay, Walton, Gulf, Jackson, Washington, Holmes, Calhoun, and Okaloosa counties. It is geographically the largest regional medical association in the state.

“We believe Adam cares deeply about this state, its physicians, and its patients as a whole. For Adam, the governor’s office is not just another pit stop on the way to higher office; as Agriculture Commissioner, he has been here during hurricanes helping families recover and he has visited every corner of the state ten times over. He announced his candidacy from his hometown in Bartow, FL. Mr. Desantis announced his run for governor from Washington, D.C., and the last thing we need in Tallahassee is a D.C. politician.”

Legislative Chair of the ECMA Jon Ward gives additional reasons for endorsing Adam Putnam, “I have known Adam personally from our days in 4-H together. There is no person in the entire state that knows Florida like Adam. He is the absolute best choice for governor. I voted for Donald Trump for President, but on this issue the President is wrong; and I am proud of Florida physicians that stand on principle in endorsing Adam. This decision was a no-brainer. We have picked the best choice for Florida’s patients, physicians, and families in Adam Putnam.”

Adam Putnam for Governor has the right prescription for health care policy in Florida. He believes in market-based solutions for health insurance and wants to replace Obamacare with a better option. He believes that frivolous lawsuits lead to unnecessary medical expenses and would like to curb malpractice abuses. He also has pledged to help physicians fight insurance companies to help us care for patients, putting the doctors back in charge of a patient’s health care.
