The magnitude of the recent rain storm that hit Central Iowa exceeded many Iowan’s expectations and created irreplaceable damage to homes and businesses. The historic flooding caused many people to lose more than just their belongings, but also their cherished memories.
“I have received multiple phone calls since the flooding occurred, customers asking if their memories such as old home movies that are on VHS tapes can still be salvaged. I tell people there is a better chance of salvaging them now rather than if they wait too long. We are trying our best to preserve any memories that we can,” said Olson.

We transferred film for a customer last year and he called us frantic the other day. He had more film to transfer but it was currently sitting in a tote in his basement, underwater.
Although Iowa is not affected by Hurricane’s, our out-of-state customers may be. We are currently amid hurricane season as it started June 1- November 30, 2018.
Last year, during hurricane season, a customer from Texas sent us a video urging people “to go digital” as she was scanning all her lost memories that got destroyed by the hurricane.
“Many times, people think that something like this wouldn’t happen to them, until it does. Customers come to us wishing they would've done something to preserve their memories sooner,” said Olson.
