Montgomery County Programs Expanding Access to Health Care Services


More than 17,000 underserved or uninsured County residents have benefited.

Mary’s Center, Cornerstone Montgomery, Mercy Health, and Mobile Medical Care (MobileMed) will participate in a press conference with U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield on Tuesday, May 1, to discuss how the organizations are expanding access to health care services in Montgomery County.

Through the implementation or expansion of recent programs, these organizations have collectively increased available health care services to more than 17,000 medically underserved or uninsured patients in the county.

The programs – which address a range of health care needs including behavioral services and care coordination – have benefited from $640,000 in total recent grants provided by CareFirst, the region’s largest not-for-profit health insurer.

The press conference will include remarks from representatives of each organization, CareFirst Senior Vice President Maria Harris Tildon, and U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin. Speakers will be available for follow-up questions from media after the presentation.
