FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

When Motor City Paint developed 75 new colors modeled after historic Detroit locations like the Fisher Building and Belle Isle Aquarium, they knew the perfect people to name them – Michigan residents.

So, partnered with the Detroit Historical Society and the Detroit Historical Museum, Motor City Paint launched a contest in January to ask people to name 25 of the colors. The colors were put on display in an exhibit, and visiting Michigan residents were encouraged to submit name ideas.

Brian Eisbrenner, CEO of Motor City Paint, said the idea for the contest, which ran from January 9 through February 28, was to name paint colors that are “as vibrant as the city they came from” while maintaining a connection to the city’s rich history.
“We wanted to preserve these colors and bring them forward into the next age of innovation and industry in Detroit. Having them named by local people is our opportunity to bring that important perspective to life.”

Although the contest was intended to identify 25 winning color names, the Motor City Paint team liked 27 of the color names so much that they decided to use them. Those 27 individuals whose color names were chosen received a $50 gift card redeemable at one of Motor City Paint’s area stores or online at www.motorcitypaint.com.

Two grand prize winners, Brian Ambrozy and Beth Cox, are also receiving a $1,000 paint job. Beth Cox of Livonia won with the name “St. Anne’s Lace.” Brian Ambrozy, a Detroit resident, won the social media component of the contest for the most shares and likes on social media.
