The COVID-19 Pandemic is the Moment for “Mompreneurs” to Shine

In Light of Lost Jobs and Unemployment caused by the COVID-19 Lockdown, Mompreneurs Have Started To Use the Free Time to launch their Businesses

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

[May 2020 – U.S.A] – The COVID-19 pandemic has led to global lockdowns, but the U.S. has had to deal with not only a high number of casualties but also with a loss of employment opportunities. With businesses coming to a standstill, many people have been let go from their jobs, causing hardship for the average employee.

The City of Detroit has been one of the hardest-hit states with a high number of casualties, and businesses still not reopening. One person decided to take this as an opportunity to pursue her dream and start her own business. LaShondra White is a mother of 6 who was furloughed from a job in March 2020 and had to make do with food stamps.

White stated, “I’m using the current shelter in place for Michigan to start my business. I’m in the City of Detroit, where Covid-19 has killed a lot of the city’s residents. I’m furloughed from a big box clothing retailer.”

She further explained, “My kid and I are surviving on food stamps and unemployment. I’m remaining positive during this pandemic. I just rebounded from 9/11. I'm doing my best to use this opportunity to be a "mompreneur."

Focusing on improving her circumstances, she’s launched various businesses to improve possible income opportunities. Fab Fash is an online clothing store for women that includes accessories such as jewelry, purses, and even caters to plus size women.

Crave Cosmetics is another business launched by White that is an independent cosmetics brand. And Sheer Faces is a lash studio which is currently on hold but will be opened once the Governor lifts the lockdown.

During this time, White has used her free time to her advantage by undertaking lash training online after her lash certification classes had to be put on hold. She’s also learning about online store management through the Shopify Academy.

With Fab Fash, women can expect to get quality clothing pieces, sourced from the U.S., and delivered straight to their homes. White also explained that “I’m a 100% woman-owned, small business. I source all the products from the U.S.A.”
