Join Patient Power and Lurie Cancer Center in Chicago for a free, educational MPN (myeloproliferative) event on Saturday June 24.

Patient Power is proud to partner with the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University in Chicago for an MPN (myeloproliferative neoplasms) town meeting on Saturday, June 24, 2017.

This type of rare cancer occurs in only about 300,000 people in the United States, and only a handful of hematologists specialize in the treatment of MPNs. For patients, finding a physician experienced in treating these chronic forms of cancer as well as connecting with others living with these rare diseases can be particularly challenging. This event allows patients and their care partners to meet and hear the latest news from two nationally renowned MPN experts, Dr. Brady Stein from the Lurie Cancer Center and Dr. Naveen Pemmaraju from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center along with physician assistant, Lindsey Kalhagen. Lindsey Whyte, a project manager from the MPN Research Foundation based in Chicago will also join the panel. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and connect with others with MPNs over complimentary breakfast and coffee.

Register now to attend this free event on Saturday June 24 from 9 am to 12:45 pm CT at Pritzker Auditorium, Feinberg Pavilion - Northwestern Memorial Hospital (251 East Huron St.) Parking and refreshments are complimentary for attendees. If outside of the Chicago region, patients and care partners can still register to watch online via live stream from their computer.

With a blood cancer as rare as MPNs, it’s important that patients and their loved ones are informed about developing research and current treatment options and connect with others like them to know they aren’t alone. Patient Power founder and an MPN patient himself, Andrew Schorr, says “By going to town meetings, you meet and see people with the same condition as you and it makes a big difference! It certainly did for me and that’s why I founded Patient Power.”

Patient Power® is a service of Patient Power, LLC led by founders Andrew and Esther Schorr, supported by team members around the world. They are committed to helping each person they touch approach their illness in a way that gives them the best chance of good health: getting smart about their diagnosis, seeking out the best healthcare providers, getting second and even third opinions on what approach to take – including, if appropriate, participating in a clinical trial, and drawing on others for support.
