DoSomething.org, DataKind, and Elrha among Latest Digital Humanitarian™ Partners to Join the More than 30 Organizational Members of OVERTURE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, March 15, 2017 – OVERTURE announces the addition of several organizational members with global impact to its growing roster: DoSomething.org; DataKind; and Elrha, an organization dedicated to improving humanitarian outcomes through partnership, research and innovation. Members support OVERTURE’s vision to develop and curate the intersection between technology and humanitarianism – with the goal of developing and supporting technological solutions to help alleviate issues plaguing humanity around the world.

Explains OVERTURE founder and CEO Donnovan Andrews: “We’re truly excited to partner with such prestigious organizations that are strategically aligned with OVERTURE’s vision to bring the right tech and humanitarian organizations’ decision-makers together. Our members help us foster these partnerships, which are already enabling idea-generation, and will soon lead to the tech development, funding and distribution needed to effectively enact global change.”

DoSomething.org is one of the largest global organizations for young people and social change – its 5.5 million members in 131 countries tackle volunteer campaigns that impact a wide range of humanitarian causes including poverty, discrimination and the environment. Says CEO Aria Finger, “The prospect of working with OVERTURE to generate ideas and actual solutions, which might enhance our efforts to help those in need, is exciting. We began participating in OVERTURE’s Digital Humanitarian Series of events in 2016 and look forward to this year’s agenda.”

DataKind is a global nonprofit that harnesses the power of data science, AI and machine learning in the service of humanity. A pioneer in the data for good movement, the organization brings together leading data scientists and social sector experts to collaborate on data-driven projects to tackle some of the world’s toughest challenges. Managing Director of Capital & Growth, Julia Rhodes Davis focuses on collaboration, efficacy, and the impact of mission-driven organizational partnerships. When asked why DataKind chose to partner with OVERTURE, Davis replied: “Using data and tech to help further social change is in (or should be) everyone’s best interest. It’s what our organization is all about. We also believe collaboration is essential in achieving this and are excited to be joining OVERTURE's network of like-minded partners to help address critical humanitarian issues.”

OVERTURE is also proud to announce support from an impressive group of new member-organizations, including: World Policy Institute; Bard Graduate Programs in Sustainability; Gradian Health Systems; Innovare Advisors; Inspiring Capital; MIT Media Lab; Possible Health; TAU Investment Management; UK Aid; NY Tech Alliance; IntraHealth International; Human Impacts Institute; Hydration Foundation; London & Partners; and sponsor members Center for Accelerating Innovation and Impact, and USAID.
