Edgar Perez brings Cybersecurity Boardroom Workshop 2015, seminar specifically designed for board members, senior executives and entrepreneurial business professionals looking for new ways to gain and maintain competitive business advantage in one of the most critical subjects for corporations and governments worldwide
The New York Stock Exchange suspended today trading in all securities due to technical difficulties; the unit of Intercontinental Exchange was apparently facing an isolated incident, according to Edgar Perez, author of Knightmare on Wall Street and The Speed Traders.
“The fact that the stocks continued to trade on other exchanges, such as those run by Nasdaq and BATS Global Markets, indicates that we might be experiencing a technical glitch in NYSE’s internal systems,” added Perez. Therefore, a potential relationship with computer incidents with United Airlines and WSJ.com, or a coordinated cyber attack from a foreign power, remain for now very unlikely prospects.
Perez also pointed to the fact that this is not the first time NYSE updates its systems on Wednesdays; in fact, the infamous Knight Capital glitch on August 1, 2012, also happened on a Wednesday when NYSE deployed its Retail Liquidity Program (RLP). This furthers reinforces that view of an internal glitch which; this hasn’t stopped other exchanges from being on a red code conference call and the Securities and Exchange Commission from closely monitoring the situation.
