FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

Last weekend the EMS team got together with their green-fingered friends and family as well as local school children to help turn the lake opposite our offices into a wildlife spot that the whole community can enjoy.

The project is part of their commitment to offset all C02 emissions from their clients’ roadshows by supporting local environmental initiatives, and this year they pledged to support a scheme on their doorstep with the Cheshire Wildlife Trust.

Their plan is to develop the lake into an inviting place for the local community to visit and observe wildlife in its natural habitat. It will also provide a tranquil area for staff and an educational site for local schools.

The lake lies close to the Mersey Estuary and is linked by a water course, making it an important wildlife corridor in what is a relatively built-up area and provides an important pit stop for birds and wildlife to feed or rest.

The weekend’s activity involved clearing the willow shrubs and trees. They will also be adding bird boxes and new shrubs will be planted to encourage butterflies. Invertebrate habitats will also eventually be built to encourage insects that are slowly in decline.

An important part of the project is to encourage colleagues, the community and local businesses to get involved and learn more about our environment so it was fantastic to see so many familiar faces helping out.

EMS would like to thank everyone who took part - Cheshire Wildlife Trust, Envirocare, Cheshire West and Chester Council and Base Motopark who as a treat to all of the volunteers kindly offered to run a bike session on the track.

EMS achieved the ISO 14001 environmental management standard back in December 2007 - the first event roadshows company to achieve this. This initiative is just one of the projects off-setting EMS’ client exhibition trailer carbon footprint for 2012.
