Northern Metropolitan Center is in Monsey, NY. The center’s focus is to help patients maintain their utmost level of independence. The 120-bed facility is intended for seniors who wish to remain autonomous but still require assistance with day-to-day activities. Northern Metropolitan’s dual housing/health care combination supports patient’s medical and material necessities and offers a variety of specialty services, including IV therapy, pain management, long and short term rehab, and wound care.
The NY rehab center boasts a 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit, which offers a seven-day-a-week nursing home therapy program that includes physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Educated therapists at Northern Metropolitan Center customize treatment programs to create goals and challenges unique to each individual's needs. Activities are designed to reinstitute basic motor skills and make sure that patients are equipped for the challenges of daily living.
For patients that have been discharged but wish to continue to receive care from a familiar and reliable source, Northern Metropolitan Center provides outpatient therapy and rehabilitation. Outpatient services can be conducted at the program’s newly renovated Rehabilitation Pavilion or from the convenience of the patient’s own home. Occupational, physical, and speech therapy are all available, as is dysphasia evaluation and swallowing therapies. All the services are conducted by specially trained professionals from the short term rehab program at Northern Metropolitan Center.
Adult Day Health Care is available for seniors in need of supervision during their caregiver’s work hours. Northern Facilities manages two medically and socially focused adult day health programs, with affiliates situated in Monsey and Brooklyn. Each of the NY rehab centers has programs designed to develop a patient’s independence, advocate wellness, enhance socialization with peers, and form a support system for families. Northern Adult Day Health Centers are open six days a week, Sunday through Friday, with two sessions daily. Door-to-door transportation can be arranged for house-bound patients.
The bariatric program at the Northern Metropolitan Center provides assistance for obese individuals. The specialty program is designed to optimize comfort and make daily routines manageable by providing adaptive beds, walkers, wheelchairs, and bathing equipment to patients. Special dietary support along with rehabilitation and psychological intervention are offered by trained staffers at the short term rehab program.
