FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sam’s Club and General Mills have announced that they will be hosting an “Outnumber Hunger Live” event with Eli Young Band at the new St. Petersburg Sam’s Club on Friday, Oct. 26, from 2 - 3 p.m. As part of the day’s celebration, the members of Eli Young Band will meet with fans and sign autographs at Sam’s Club, 1725 34th St. N., St. Petersburg.
General Mills will be providing a complimentary copy of the Eli Young Band’s most recent CD, Life at Best, to the first 100 fans in line. The entire band – Mike Eli, vocals and guitar; James Young, guitar; Jon Jones, bass; and Chris Thompson, drums – will be on hand to meet their fans and autograph the CDs.
To help in the fight against hunger in America, General Mills and several Big Machine Label Group artists, including Eli Young Band, have teamed up this summer to help Feeding America secure meals for local food banks through “Outnumber Hunger Live.” In conjunction with the “Farmers Insurance Presents Rascal Flatts Changed Tour,” General Mills will make a donation at each tour stop to Feeding America that helps secure 5,000 meals for the local food bank in that city by donating $625 at each stop.
Currently nominated for Country Music Association’s Vocal Group of the Year Award, Eli Young Band has become the darlings of Country Music with two recent number one hits. Their hit song “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” written by Will Hoge and Eric Paslay, is also up for the prestigious “Song of the Year” Award. On April 1, 2012, the group won the Academy of Country Music Award for Song of the Year for “Crazy Girl,” their first major award, and they have had additional Academy of Country Music, Billboard, CMT, and Teen Choice Award nominations. Both platinum-certified “Crazy Girl” and gold-certified "Even If It Breaks Your Heart," from their album Life At Best, have recently reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart.
“We encourage fans to join us for a fun and exciting day,” said Brandon Murray, club manager of the St. Pete location. “This event is our way of thanking the community for their patronage of our numerous clubs in the area. We are excited and look forward to seeing all the smiling faces of our surrounding communities, as we support Outnumber Hunger and welcome the chart-topping country band Eli Young Band to our new location.”
Sam’s Club members and guests are welcomed and encouraged to visit the St. Petersburg location at any time throughout the day. Autographs are limited to one per person and are only guaranteed for the first 100 people in line.
