Highlights the importance of global mangers in corporations worldwide and enumerates the attributes of a successful leader in his convocation address

IFIM, Bangalore's No.1 private Business School*, held its
16th Annual Convocation today at the NIMHANS Convention Centre. Mr. N.R. Narayana Murthy, Chairman Emeritus - Infosys Technologies Ltd., presided over the gathering and stressed upon the importance of a global manager in today’s corporate world in his Convocation address.
The lighting of the lamp signified the commencement of the august function as a total of 193 PGDM students of the 2010 - 12 batch were conferred their post-graduate degrees. Mr. Narayana Murthy bestowed awards for excellence in various fields to the top performers of the batch. Neha Agarwal received the Juniper Networks Award For The Best Student – PGDM and Sneha V bagged the
Titan Industries Award For The Best All Round Performance.
The ceremony was graced by several head honchos from the corporate world, the Academic Governing Board of IFIM along with the parents of the graduating students and the alumni of the institute.
In his convocation address Mr. N.R. Narayana Murthy, Chairman Emeritus - Infosys Technologies Ltd. said , “In today’s world the competition is intense and the opportunities huge and daunting because of globalization. The need of the hour is becoming a good global manager and every students needs to develop certain skill sets that one needs to become a successful manager.”
Mr. N.R. Narayana Murthy also enumerated the various facets of a great global manager which comprises – being a good leader, having high learnability, the ability to operate in multi-cultural teams, being a good communicator. He also said that one must be global in aspirations but local in execution and be conversant and up-to-date with the latest technology.
Congratulating all the students on the occasion, Prof. Bramh Prakash Pethiya, Director IFIM Business School said, "This year has been one of the most satisfying years for the institute in terms of overall performance by the batch. We have had excellent results academically. This year, IFIM has also witnessed some of the best companies in the country visiting us as recruiters & absorbing a sizeable portion of our students."
The placement cycle saw companies from across varied sectors, ranging from banking to retail and analytics to IT visit the campus. Some of these prestigious organizations include Volvo, Frost and Sullivan, Schneider, Genpact, SKF India, Biocon , Deloitte, Ernst & Young, ICICI Bank, HSBC Bank, IDBI Bank, CITIBANK. Two students also received international placement offers from the Expat Group, Dubai.
The two-hour long Convocation came to a close with a buzz of cheer and excitement as the students threw their hats up to celebrate the occasion.
