Philadelphia Fundraising Consultant Robert Evans to discuss the state of charitable giving in the United States on Tony Martignetti Nonprofit Radio

NEW YORK CITY, NY - Robert I. Evans, Founder and Managing Director of the Philadelphia fundraising firm EHL Consulting Group, will join local radio host Tony Martignetti to discuss the results of the just-released Giving USA Annual Report for 2011, and compare those results to the figures included in the monthly Atlas of Giving. The two organizations significantly diverge on methodology: whereas Giving USA is a survey that details giving based on figures from the previous tax years, The Atlas uses a forward-looking prediction model.
Host Tony Martignetti and Mr. Evans will contrast the methods and discuss last year's charitable giving numbers, and predict what these results might mean for the future of philanthropy in America.

Giving USA's Annual Report detailed that giving by individuals increased by an estimated 3.9 percent in 2011 to $217.79 billion in contributions; foundations increased 1.8 percent to $41.67 billion; corporate donations held steady at 5 percent and $14.55 billion; and bequests rose 12.2 percent to $24.41 billion. Despite these increases, many nonprofits are still struggling to find new donors and re-engage lapsed ones.
“There is no such thing as donor fatigue,” Mr. Evans elaborated in a recent presentation hosted by NYC law firm Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP. “Today’s donors are waiting to be inspired by transformational projects, and many of today’s nonprofits are not presenting a compelling enough case for support.”
