The York Festival of Ideas begins on June 14th and features a diverse programme of talks, exhibitions and performances.

'Metamorphoses' is the theme of this year's York Festival of Ideas, which should give visitors to the city plenty of food for thought.
Running from Thursday June 14th to Saturday June 30th, the event boasts a line-up of thought-provoking talks, interactive exhibitions and special performances that reflect York's proud academic and cultural heritage.
Highlights of the programme include a talk by renowned cosmologist Professor Carlos Frenk, who is set to open the festival with 'Where it all began: The Big Bang'.
This event will see the professor discuss what the organisers have described as "the biggest metamorphosis of all" and address some of the biggest questions in science.
Meanwhile, fans of Anthony Horowitz can see the novelist and screenwriter in conversation with the University of York's Professor Judith Buchanan on Saturday June 16th.
The writer, who is known for the Alex Rider spy novels and popular TV shows such as Foyle's War, is set to discuss his life and work in the university's Central Hall.
