Based on the beloved film, the stage version of The Wizard of Oz features new songs by award-winning duo Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Dorothy and Toto were chosen by the public on the hit BBC series Over the Rainbow, and runner-up Evans took over the role full-time in February after winner Danielle Hope’s departure. Following in the footsteps of Michael Crawford and Russell Grant, veteran entertainer Des O’Connor steps into the title role on 22 May for the show’s final season. In an exclusive interview with Cheap Theatre Tickets.com, Evans says, “I am so excited! He’s such a gentleman. It’s going to change it up again. It keeps it exciting. And I hear he has got a really lovely singing voice! I can’t wait to hear him sing ‘Wonders of the World.’”
