Visitors to the European Wind Energy Association’s (EWEA) show, running 16th to 19th April in Copenhagen, Denmark will have the chance to meet Brüel & Kjær’s technical experts

Wind turbine noise is an increasingly important and global environmental issue. International standards are constantly being developed to ensure consistency and accuracy in the measurement and analysis of noise emitted by wind turbine generator systems.
Brüel & Kjær’s engineering team will be demonstrating its latest sound and vibration tools, on stand E-B09, including an interactive demonstration of modal analysis on turbine blades.
They will also display the company’s latest wind turbine application, which allows users to measure the sound power of wind turbines and their component parts according to the latest versions of IEC61400-11 and FGW (Fördergesellschaft Windenergie) Technischen Richtlinie für windenergie - PULSE Wind Turbine Sound Power Determination (Type 7914).
This solution enables wind turbine manufacturers to determine sound power and tonality - and wind turbine purchasers can check the expected specified noise levels of new or refurbished units. It can also be used by planners and consultants to calibrate or validate their calculated environmental noise maps for single wind turbines or extensive wind farms.
There will be a link up to a live noise terminal, situated on a wind farm, to show the company’s noise measurement terminals and internet based subscription service - Noise Sentinel - in action. The noise monitoring terminals collect and process data, which users can remotely retrieve and analyse, without a site visit.
The company’s newest vibration analyser - 2250-H - will also be on display. The 2250-H contains Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) software, which provides simple pass/fail test results - or more detailed frequency analysis - for diagnostic testing, allowing engineers to quickly check vibration performance. FFT analysis is ideal for assisting product development, quality control, building vibration analysis, troubleshooting on machinery and automotive component analysis.
