Lifenest is a mattress that helps prevent flat head (plagiocephaly). Also, if the baby accidentally rolls over, the netting of the mattress will allow the baby to breathe through it!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

(Los Angeles, CA) — UBIMED, manufacturer of the Cleanoz® Nasal-Aspirator Kit, is pleased to announce the launch of their most innovative product to date, the LifeNest Sleeping System. Recently, the LifeNest Sleeping System has been listed with the FDA as a medical device to help prevent Plagiocephaly (commonly referred to as flat head syndrome in infants), as well as earned the PTPA Media Seal of Approval (Parent Tested Parent Approved, www.ptpamedia.com).

Created by renowned ear, nose and throat pediatric surgeon specialist, Dr. Jose Bensoussan, UBIMED’s patented LifeNest Sleeping System was specifically designed to ensure the highest level of comfort and safety for your infant while they rest. The LifeNest’s coversheet has a built in mesh hammock that cradles the baby’s head, maintaining the recommended baby-on-back sleeping position while allowing unrestricted movements. The elevated breathable hammock permits the free circulation of air via the venting channels, allowing the baby to breathe freely through the netting during tummy time or if they accidentally roll over, and it helps prevent overheating. The tight fitting bag-shaped coversheet closed by a zipper, prevents mattress cover entrapment and strangulation risks (available in a full line of fashionable colors to compliment any nursery). Additionally, the mesh hammock of the LifeNest allows liquids and mucus to pass through it helping to prevent against smothering. Intended to be used for babies from birth to 5 months of age, the LifeNest measures approximately 33.5”( 85 cm) long, 27.5 (70 cm) wide” and 4.7”/1.5” (12cm/4cm) high, fitting securely on any standard crib. The product also comes with a convenient travel case, as it is easily portable making it ideal for parent’s on-the-go.

The American Academy of Pediatrics, 1994 “Back-to-Sleep campaign” dramatically reduced the sudden infant death syndrome incidence but the Flat Head Syndrome frequency skyrocketed. Most of the babies’ head flattening occur during the first 3 months of life when the baby’s skull is malleable as they lay most of the time on a firm mattress. (Shane U. Sheu; Mary K. Ethen; Angela E. Scheuerle; Peter H. Langlois. Investigation Into an Increase in Plagiocephaly in Texas From 1999 to 2007. Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 2011)

“The LifeNest Sleeping System was specifically designed for babies’ wellness,” says Dr. Bensoussan, UBIMED’s President and inventor of the LifeNest.

Shocked by the death of a family friend’s daughter due to accidental suffocation while she slept, Dr. Bensoussan began researching this detrimental occurrence looking for a plausible solution to effectively help prevent both SIDS and Flat Head. It was during this research that Dr. Bensoussan studied the existing baby sleep positioners and found most of them to be dangerous as he identified the risk of entrapment between the positioner itself and the crib bars. Additionally, most of the pillows designed to prevent Plagiocephaly presented the same suffocation risks if the baby were to flip over. So he put his prestigious medical background to work and set out to design a mattress that would help to prevent both risks. Patented by Dr. Bensoussan in 2010, the LifeNest Sleeping System was the end result of years of research and testing; specifically designed to ensure the highest level of comfort and safety for infants while they rest.

The LifeNest Sleeping System is available for purchase online at www.lifenest.com and at select retailers nationwide for $149.99. For a complete list of retail locations, please visit http://www.lifenest.com/content_cart.asp?cf=ln.

About UBIMED
In 2005, Dr. Jose Bensoussan founded the UBIMED Company in Los Angeles, CA with the invention of the first battery operated nasal aspirator for babies that uses disposable nozzle pieces. He then moved with his wife, Jeannie, and two children, David and Barbara, in 2006 to California where they all became permanent citizens of the United States. Then in 2007 his invention became UBIMED’s first product, marketed worldwide as the Cleanoz Nasal Aspirator Kit. In September of 2010, UBIMED introduced the world to yet another groundbreaking invention by Dr. Bensoussan, the LifeNest Sleeping System. The LifeNest has received critical acclaim from medical professionals around the globe and is currently exported to numerous countries worldwide.

As 2011 gets underway, Dr. Bensoussan and UBIMED show no signs of slowing down as they continue to be dedicated to inventing, designing, manufacturing and distributing worldwide products to ensure babies’ wellness.
