FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT
(April 5, 2012 - Los Angeles) Verité Films, a Los Angeles based independent production company, has optioned the rights to the one-hour television drama SHACHO, written by Joseph Ferrante and Andrew Houston.
Producers René Veilleux and Donald Roman Lopez are quickly moving forward on the development of this unique TV series. "When Joe told us about his outrageous experience in the corporate world in Japan, we told him he needed to write it and that we had to have first right of refusal," joked Rene. "We're ecstatic about the potential of this provocative show. It is like Entourage meets Mad Men meets Californication but in Japan. We can't wait to shop it around," added Donald.
SHACHO is a scathing, sexy drama about an aspiring young executive sent to post tsunami Japan to save his failing company back in America. The series takes off as the young executive meets his unorthodox and egomaniacal new SHACHO (Japanese for Boss) resulting in an exhilarating East meets West clash of wills.
Joseph Ferrante has recently completed the NHMC ABC program and has over seven years experience in a variety of Japanese industries. Mr. Houston has over ten years experience working in education and is an award winning film school graduate from Australia. Mr. Ferrante and Mr. Houston have partnered in the past on two TV shows, KYOTO F-STOP and CHARINKO CHERRY, both for Fuji Network. Mr. Ferrante is currently finishing his third pilot and the duo has another feature in development. The writing partners are in talks with Verité Films regarding other scripted and unscripted projects.
Verité Films has most recently produced the English adaptation and dubbing of the animated feature film The Snow Queen and last year released the feature film, The Putt Putt Syndrome, which is now available on DVD. Currently, Verité Films is in production on a feature length documentary about the life and music of renowned Colombian singer, Totó La Momposina and is also in development on the gay romantic comedy Over The Rainbow and the vampire horror film Bloodmoon.
