The Spring Festival of New Music in York offers a variety of performances over five days at venues around the city.

The Spring Festival of New Music will return to York on Wednesday May 9th.
Organised by the University of York, the five-day event features a programme of live performances and special events brought together to celebrate the best in contemporary music.
Anticipated highlights of this year's festival include the first UK appearance from German-based ensemble El Perro Andaluz, who will perform at the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall on May 9th.
Violinist and composer Martin Suckling is due to play at the National Centre for Early Music (NCEM) on Friday May 11th, while musical comedian Jay Foreman will perform at the City Screen Basement later that night.
Also on May 11th, the NCEM is set to welcome the Dave Smyth Sextet - a group of gifted jazz musicians formed especially for the occasion - and acclaimed saxophonist Julian Arguelles.
Other venues due to host events during the festival include the York St John University Chapel and the university's Rymer Auditorium.
Tickets for the performances are individually priced and can be purchased online.
