Annual Bacon & Beer Festival Returns to Benefit Local Hunger Relief Organizations
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT
WHAT: From Saturday April 28th, 2012 through Thursday, May 3rd, 2012, Eat Boston will hold the first ever Bacon and Beer Week, a week-long celebration dedicated to, you’ve guessed it, bacon and beer! The week will kick off on Saturday, April 28th, 2012 at the House of Blues with the long-standing and ever-popular, Bacon and Beer Festival to benefit local hunger relief organizations Lovin’ Spoonfuls and Community Servings. From 2:30PM to 5:00PM restaurants and purveyors from all over Greater Boston will prepare their best bacon-based dishes paired with beer from local breweries. Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting Lovin’ Spoonfuls mission to bring wholesome, ready to eat food to the people who need it the most by recovering and distributing perishable and un-served foods that would otherwise be thrown away and wasted as well as Community Servings, a not-for-profit food and nutrition program providing services throughout Massachusetts to individuals and families living with critical and chronic illnesses.
The Bacon & Beer Festival, now in its third year, is the brainchild of Aaron Cohen, co-founder of Eat Boston, a company dedicated to creating a non-traditional dining environment and feeding people in unique and innovative ways—much like the mission of Ashley Stanley, founder of Lovin’ Spoonfuls. The partnership between the two organizations seemed as obvious as that of, dare we say it, bacon and beer.
“We started supporting Lovin' Spoonfuls with the Eat Boston events because I know founder Ashley Stanley from about 3rd Grade. I'm also attracted to the startup ethos she applies to ‘LS;’ there's never a time not to work, not to build, not to solve a problem. Lovin' Spoonfuls has done an amazing job at getting people involved in their mission of feeding people better, healthier food with what's in excess,” said Aaron Cohen, co-founder of Eat Boston and Bacon and Beer Week.
Tickets to the Bacon & Beer festival are $37 and include admission to the event as well as all beer and bacon samplings. Following the event, guests can further indulge in bacon and beer from Saturday April 28th, 2012 through Thursday, May 3rd, 2012 at the first ever Bacon & Beer week which includes bacon and beer pairings at select restaurants around Boston, a Bacon & Beer Harbor Cruise, a bacon and beer inspired art show, and more!
