To become certified in the subspecialty of sleep medicine, a physician must pass the Sleep Medicine Certification Exam, demonstrate clinical expertise and have a track record of impeccable ethical behavior.

The link between sleep disorders and heart problems prompted Dr. Steljes to open the Healthy Heart Sleep Center in 2010. A 23-year Las Vegas resident, Dr. Steljes earned his medical degree from the University of Toronto in 1979.
