Renowned throughout the world for the quality of its motor racing events, Finland is this coming January set to play host to one of the leading events in the driving calendar - the Arctic Lapland Rally.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
In excess of 150 of Europe's leading rally drivers and motorists will be heading into the Finnish town of Rovaniemi to take part in a truly grueling driving event. The Finnish landscape and climate present a unique challenge to drivers.
First held back in 1966, the Arctic Lapland Rally - known also as the Tunturiralli - takes place on the ice and snow of Rovaniemi and has only ever been won twice by non-Finnish drivers. Current champion Juha Salo, a three-time winner, will be taking part to defend his title this year.
The Arctic Lapland Rally will this year be held from January 26th to January 29th and forms a part of the Finnish Rally Championship tournament.
Loyal fans of motorsports and extreme rallying in particular follow their passion all over the continent, and many hundreds of supporters are expected to arrive in Rovaniemi to enjoy the fun. According to online hotel room comparison website DirectRooms.com, Rovaniemi hotels can expect a busy time of it around the time of the Arctic Lapland Rally.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head of DirectRooms.com, says, “The Finns certainly seem to love their motorsports and as such any events hosted in the country are typically well attended. With that in mind we're advising people to book hotels well before arriving to be sure they get themselves choice and availability."
