Therapists who use Mavenlive for prescribing physiotherapy exercises might enjoy knowing these two tips for using Mavenlive with the iPad and its iOS5 upgrade, says Mavenlive's VP of technical development.
 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT
WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA - The makers of Mavenlive love technology and they way it has enabled the iPad to serve as a valuable tool for physical therapists who use their rehab exercise software.
When Apple released its iOS5 upgrade in October, Chris Metcalfe, VP of technical development for Prognition Corp.- Mavenlive's makers- began toying with the iPad more and found a pair of tricks likely to help physiotherapists who use iPads when entering data to prescribe physiotherapy exercises to patients.
Split Keyboard
The keyboard can be divided by clicking on Settings- General- Keyboard- Split Keyboard. Splitting the keyboard makes it easier for users to type with their thumbs, according to the Unofficial Apple Weblog.
"I've used this on my iPad and have found it faster to type when holding it with both hands," Metcalfe says. "I can see where it could be quicker for a PT who stands while entering notes or other electronic medical record information."
Shortcuts
A second feature that a therapist might enjoy is creating keyboard shortcuts. To get to this feature, go to Settings- General- Keyboard- Shortcuts
Shortcuts enable the user to make customizations. The default recognizes when "omw" is typed and replaces it with "On my way!"
This might be of use in professions that use short hand. For example, a physical therapist could create a shortcut for "ROM" (range of motion) or "HEP" (home exercise program)."
