Malaysia will host an exhibition of Japanese costumes from Shingo Tokihiro at the Performing Arts Centre of Penang.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

The Performing Arts Centre of Penang in Malaysia will play host to the Shingo Tokihiro Costume Exhibition next month.

Running from December 17th 2011 until January 1st 2012, the event is organised by the Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur and the Actors Studio Teater Rakyat and will showcase outfits by the famed designer Shingo Tokihiro.

An enthusiast of the work of William Shakespeare, the costumier has produced lavish garments for use in Japanese productions of the Bard's plays, performed in the traditional noh theatre style.

Attendees of the exhibition will therefore be able to see costumes that reinterpret characters from Macbeth, Othello and King Lear in a uniquely Japanese style.

The Performing Arts Centre of Penang is a new cultural fixture that opened its doors on November 11th 2011, with all shows and performances set to be free until the end of the year.

Those wishing to visit the Shingo Tokihiro Costume Exhibition can do so from 20:30 local time on December 17th at the foyer area of stage 2 at the centre.

Cultural enthusiasts can find a wide selection of Malaysia hotels at AsiaRooms.com, including the Evergreen Laurel Hotel Penang.

Find out more about the event and venue at www.penangpac.org.
