DirectRooms.com confirms that the BUPA Great Birmingham Run will take place this year on Sunday 23rd October 2011.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT
This half marathon will cover a distance of 13.1 miles and has been rebranded as part of the ‘Great Run’ series in order to participate in the world’s biggest mass participation running programme. The run will start on Paradise Street and continue around the city, until competitors finish the race near Broad Street. The event is going to be televised on the UK’s Channel Five.
The chosen charities for this event include Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Cancer Research UK and Kidney Research UK as well as many other national and local charities. One of the leading advocates of the BUPA Birmingham Run is Brendan Foster, a former Olympic medallist. Speaking about the forthcoming event, Foster said, ‘‘we believe the Great Birmingham (Run) has the potential to become one of the premier running events in the UK.’’
The streets of Birmingham will be packed for this event and both spectators and competitors are advised to book into one of the many Birmingham City Centre hotels in order to have somewhere to stay for this special event. Entry to the event is limited at 3000 runners and the entry price is £30,00. Both national and international transport links within the city are excellent.
