The Amsterdam Marathon will take place in the city for the 36th time next month.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT
The 36th edition of the Amsterdam Marathon is due to take place in the city on Sunday October 16th.
With roughly 22,000 runners from 80 nations expected to participate this year, the event is one of Europe's biggest annual road races.
The marathon starts and finishes at Amsterdam's historic Olympic Stadium, where spectators have free access to the grandstand.
Competitors run along the banks of the Amstel River and through the centre of the city as they pass the famous canals, the Rijksmuseum and the picturesque Vondelpark.
For those who cannot face the full 42km route, there is also the Mizuno Half Marathon and an 8km run taking place on the same day.
Registration is open on the official website until Sunday September 18th, or until the maximum number of participants has been reached.
Competitors will be asked to pay €55 (£48.30) to enter the marathon, €22.50 for the half marathon and €10 to take part in the 8km event. The fee for the full marathon includes a complimentary Mizuno running shirt.
Athletes will find a large selection of Amsterdam accommodation at LateRooms.com, which recommends the Bema Hotel.
This charming hotel is located in the city's cultural centre, close to the Rijksmuseum and within walking distance of the Vondelpark.
