Jim’s first visit to Phnom Penh was in 1970, just after Norodom Sihanouk was ousted from power. Jim has returned numerous times since, during such pivotal moments as the moments leading up to the take over by the Khmer Rouge and 5 years later when they were subsequently ousted by the Vietnamese.
These free lectures, which are open to the public, will be held two nights only; Raffles Hotel Le Royal, Phnom Penh Sunday 30 January, 2011 at 5pm in the Sunflower Room and Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor (http://www.raffles.com/siemreap), Siem Reap Tuesday 1 February, 2011 at 6pm in the Elephant Bar.
His 1-hour talk leads guests through Cambodia's troubled past narrated by his own personal experiences in Cambodia, enhanced with footage from the 1970’s, 1990’s and 2010.
