Paris' 40 Years of Creation may be a must-see exhibition for fashion enthusiasts.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT
A truly unique exhibition is on display in Paris currently that showcases the work of designer Yves Saint Laurent - it is entitled 40 Years of Creation.
This retrospective of the artist's work, with more than 300 garments available to view and a variety of images and films provided to give added context and depth to the experience.
Some fashionistas may have booked their time in Paris hotels simply to hit the wonderful shops the French capital boasts and this display could provide a perfect break from this exhausting pastime.
Among the major innovations Saint Laurent brought to the fashion world are the introduction of the trouser suit, tuxedo and safari jacket to the female wardrobe, according to the organisers.
They explained that he took much of his inspiration from travelling, art and street life.
"My primary concern has always been respect for my craft, which is not exactly an art, but which depends on an artist for its existence," the venue quotes the designer as saying.
Showing until August 29th 2010 at the Petit Palais in the Musée des Beaux-Arts, this could be a must-see for people interested in the history of fashion.
Opening hours are from Tuesday to Sunday between 10:00 and 18:00 local time - although the venue shuts later on a Thursday - with entrance costing €11 (£9.24).
Later this year, the art space will be showcasing a photographic exhibition by Pierre and Alexandra Boulat.
