Tourists and locals alike are expected to turn out in droves for Berlin's biannual Long Night of the Museums.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

Anyone staying in Berlin hotels at the end of January may want to stir from their beds to take advantage of the Long Night of the Museums.

Every six months, the city's museums stay open until 02:00 local time to allow visitors an opportunity to see the installations at night.

This year's event will be held on January 30th, with institutions including the Deutsche Guggenheim, the Museum of Film and TV and the Berlin Wall Museum at Checkpoint Charlie all participating.

Some of the more unusual exhibits on show include the deep see installation at the Museum of Natural History at Humboldt University and the exhibition about life in the former German Democratic Republic (DDR) at the DDR Museum on Karl-Liebknecht Strasse.

Tickets cost €15 (£13.50) and are valid in every participating venue from 18:00 local time until 02:00 the following day.

Anyone who does not want to miss out on the spectacular event can purchase tickets online from the official website.

This is the 26th time that Berlin has hosted such an event and its theme in 2010 is science, in recognition of the 300th anniversary of the Berlin and Brandenburg Academy of Science.

"The Long Night of the Museums is likely to be popular," said Jess Reading, head of marketing at LateRooms. "LateRooms strongly recommends people considering attending to book hotel Berlin as soon as possible."
