FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT
On Friday, October 9, 2009, at the Region 1 meeting of the ACBSP in Albany, Dr. Emmanuel Egbe was elected the next President of the Eastern Regional Council of the Association of Collegiate Business Schools & Programs (ACBSP) (www.acbsp.org), where he will concurrently sit on the Council of Regional Presidents. He succeeds the current President, Charles Finn, from the College of St. Rose, in the Summer of 2010.
The ACBSP is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to accredit business schools and programs in the U.S. The other major accrediting agency for business education in the U.S. is AACSB. The School of Business at Medgar Evers College is one of only two AACSB-accredited schools in CUNY; the College’s accreditation was the result of an initiative initially spearheaded by Dr. Egbe, while he was the Dean of the School of Business, and brought to fruition under the leadership of his successor, former School of Business Dean, Dr. John Flateau, in 2003.
Currently, Dr. Egbe is a member of the ACBSP Regional Executive Council representing the Region 1 on the Baccalaureate and Graduate Commission, and a member of the Strategic Planning Committee of ACBSP. He is the Chair of the Medgar Evers College Master Plan Committee, and the Secretary of the Medgar Evers College General Education Core Committee. Currently, he is spearheading the School of Business’ Business Core and ACBSP Re-accreditation ad hoc committees. He also conducts accreditation site visits on behalf of ACBSP.
Dr. Egbe is a professor in the Department of Economics & Finance and holds a Ph.D. in Economics and a M.A. in Economic Theory from the University of Washington, as well as a M.B.A. in Quantitative Methods and B.S. in Accounting and Marketing from the University at Tulsa. Dr. Egbe has been at MEC since 1989 and has taught at various colleges and university throughout the nation.
