Fashion Show Fundraiser to celebrate the launch of The Valaya MAGIC Foundation, to be held at the Ritz Carlton - San Francisco on Sunday, November 15th, 2009, 8:00pm – 11:00pm.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT
Recognized as a major fashion force in his native India and throughout the Middle East, Asia and Europe, couture designer JJ Valaya opened his first American flagship store in the Westfield Shopping Center in San Francisco this July. The luxury designer's brand encompasses a couture label, JJ Valaya, two ready-to-wear labels, Valaya Quantum and Valaya Base, and a not-for-profit charitable movement, The Valaya MAGIC Foundation. This November 15, The Valaya MAGIC Foundation Chapter SF, USA, will celebrate its launch in the United States by hosting a formal gala fundraiser event and couture fashion show choreographed by Charleston Pierce and accessorized by John S. Brana fine jewelry at the Ritz Carlton - San Francisco.
The JJ Valaya MAGIC Foundation's vision is to have a society in which every girl is offered equal opportunity to grow to her full potential, free from gender bias and prejudice. It stands for “Move to Assist the Girl Child,” and at present, the foundation has established two schools serving 275 young girls in rural villages near New Delhi. These schools offer full meals, school uniforms, medical examinations, vocational training and extracurricular activities in music and the arts. “By bringing the Foundation to the Bay Area the message that we are a Global Community reverberates even more clearly,” describes JJ Valaya. The San Francisco gala will occur in conjunction with Children's Day, a long standing Indian tradition taking place November 14. The Valaya MAGIC Foundation seeks to raise over half a million dollars during the San Francisco November 15th Gala. Funds raised will be used for land acquisition in India to build more schools for young girls and offer vocational training in textile arts for older girls. Funds will also support NARIKA, which works with immigrant women and children in the Bay Area, and The Bill Clinton Foundation, that works for racial equality, women's rights and economic empowerment in countries around the world. The Valaya MAGIC Foundation Chapter SF, USA will be headed by JJ Valaya's sister, Maninder “MK” Kaur who is working to open a center to teach fabric and textile arts to girls here in the US.
“Realizing that the MAGIC Foundation cannot be content to garner resources to only improve India's rural areas, we bring this intense desire to change the world, one girl at a time, to the underprivileged and needy children amidst us here on the West Coast too,” describes MK, President and CEO of the foundation. Harman Kular, CFO of the foundation is flying down from Vancouver, Canada and has been actively involved in the Foundation’s budgeting.
The November 15th Fashion Show and Gala Fundraiser will feature a choreographed presentation by Charleston Pierce of JJ Valaya's “Kingdom of Love” Collection which celebrates optimism, color and energy. The designer will showcase a combination of tailored jackets, sensual jodhpurs, and crisp tops worn with detailed skirts crafted from the finest fabrics, prints and ornamentation. The 40 piece collection will be accessorized with fine jewelry from San Francisco's own John S. Brana, who will custom design several pieces exclusively for this show. Guests may bid on select pieces from both JJ Valaya's and John S. Brana's collections to benefit the Foundation.
