Typhoon Morakot could prove to be a dangerous, deadly and destructive storm for Taiwan and China with torrential rains, storm surge, and hurricane force winds.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

Warrenton, VA, - August 6, 2009 - e-Travel Technologies Inc - 911Concierge.com, through their e-Travel Alerts, is advising interests and travelers in Taiwan to be prepared for devastating effects of Typhoon Morakot as it tracks westward towards Taiwan and Mainland China.

Typhoon Morakot, with sustained winds in excess of 90 mph, is located approximately 200 nautical miles east of northern Taiwan and will strengthen to possibly a Category 2 storm on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane scale of 1 to 5 while tracking to the west. On this track, Morakot strike northern Taiwan on Friday.

Storm warnings have been issued for northern Taiwan and business and schools will be closed on Friday along with flight cancellations.

“The immediate threat from Morakot will be most likely be torrential rains causing widespread flooding and mudslides for northern Taiwan – to include the Taipei metro region with a population of 6 million.” explains Matt Swinden, Global Weather Director for e-Travel Technologies Inc – 911Concierge.com. “If the storm continues to track westward, it will most likely strike northeastern Taiwan. Damage to the infrastructure due to flooding, along with structural damage due to hurricane force winds will also be a problem and will most likely cause extensive damage to the region. The northeastern coast will endure the brunt of the storm with extensive coastal flooding. Travel in and out of the area will be hampered over the weekend and probably into early next week.”

After Taiwan, next stop Mainland China

After Taiwan, Typhoon Morakot will lose some strength but will continue to track to west with making landfall on Mainland China on the Fujian coastline. “For China, the typhoon will bring the threat of widespread flooding, damage to the infrastructure, and travel problems. The Chinese authorities have already initiated evacuations on some of the resort islands in the South China Sea”, says Swinden.
