Alumni of BITS Pilani Take up the case of Andhra Board Topper for Financial Support

BITSians worldwide have always been known for their passion in whatever they do and the noble gesture by the Alumni of 75-80 batch and NGO Nirmaan initiated by a bunch of young BITSians goes to reiterate the same.

Eenadu a leading Telugu newspaper reported on 02 July 2009 stating that Mr Nagesh from Adilabad had scored 993 out of 1000 to top the Andhra Board Higher Secondary Examinations for the year 2009 and also had secured direct admission to Birla Institute of Technology and Science - BITS Pilani. The paper had further reported that Nagesh comes from an economically disadvantaged family and that he would not be able to afford the education at BITS Pilani, which is one among the top ranking universities in India Today.

The initiative taken by Proud to be BITSians Rakesh Anugula and Eashwar Koneru for the education of Nagesh goes to show that when a mission is taken up with passion, there are no dreams too large and no frontiers beyond reach. The alumni of the Institute are indeed ambassadors for Brand BITS Pilani.

In this context, it becomes essential for public at large to be informed that at BITS a large number of scholarship and fellowships are available to the students and that past experience shows that about 30% of the students receive some form of financial assistance or other.
